Touching film about and perfectionist chef Kate (Catherine Zeta-Jones) who suddenly has to take care of her niece (a starring role for little Abigail Breslin). Love goes through the stomach.

Italian and French cuisine (vegetarian option available)
No Reservations (Scott Hicks, 2007) is about a perfectionist chef Kate (Catherine Zeta-Jones) who suddenly has to take care of her niece (a starring role for little Abigail Breslin). Her life is turned upside down and we follow her in the adjustments she must make in her kitchen – with a new sous chef – and in her personal life. A film about: passion for perfection, work-life balance, rivalry and love. And with the most delicious dishes. The film is a remake of the German film Bella Martha, also called Mostly Martha.
Food obviously plays a big role in both the restaurant (fancy Italian/French) and at home with her niece (Italian food ‘di mama’). We serve a tasting of dishes that can be well seen and/or tasted in the film. For one dish you will need a blindfold!
What you see, is what you eat. At exactly the same time, you eat whatever is eaten in the film. Cinema Culinair’s culinary script guides the chef and the service. Good film + good food + great timing. The punchline is in the latter. An example. In the film, when Chef Kate tastes a cognac sauce blindfolded at 1 hour, 18 minutes and 34 seconds, we want you to be able to do the same. A minute earlier or later determines the difference between good and fan-tas-tastic! In the end, it’s all about not just seeing or hearing that film, but also tasting and feeling it.
1
Come on time and get a taste of the atmosphere. No cinema, no restaurant, but an urban or classic ballroom with high ceilings, movie screens and long tables. But first: buy a bottle of wine to accompany the film. Or something else delicious.
2
At the table, you’ll be told how it works. Seven carefully prepared dishes are served, perfectly timed with the film. There is a break halfway the movie. As soon as the movie starts, the first dishes appear in front of you, quickly and efficiently. Then it’s time to countdown…. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and taste. Together all at once.
3
You eat exactly the same as the actors in the movie. Right down to the second. So you experience the film with all your senses: see, hear, smell, taste and feel. It couldn’t be more intense. see, hear, smell, taste and feel. As if you were sitting at the table with the actors.
These are the dishes from the movies that you eat on the second flush with the movie.
A lovely appetizer of fried scallops with fresh dressings of saffron and orange
Filet of dorado with zucchini, lemon and thyme from the oven. Less menacing than in the movie.
Classic pasta with tomato sauce, red peppers, garlic and parmesan cheese, no child can resist it.
Home made veggie pizza, always the best and most fun.
After work relaxation with a tapas board.
The tasting menu is all about the cognac sauce with celery, white wine, shallot, truffle and garlic. Served with tender chicken thigh and garnish.
Cold sabayon with an american pancake and fresh red fruit.
It is not possible to take allergens into account. If you can’t have something, skip this dish. Also consider the all-vegetarian menu. There are two choices: all dishes as in the movie. Or: fully vegetarian. Changing a dish is not possible.
Some films you don’t just want to watch; you want to taste! This is one of those films. When you see the main characters enjoying all the delicious food, you want to join in. And you can, with Cinema Culinair. Sometimes a dish appears briefly, but often you see the preparation, the moment of tasting, and the aftertaste. That’s truly ultimate. We want you to experience this film like never before. So, smell, taste, and feel what you see on screen. It’s as if you’re right there on the film set. It doesn’t get more intense than this.

Miriam SchumackerVery nice and tasty experience
Very fun and delicious experience. At the same time with the main character himself live tasting what is eaten in the movie, who wouldn't want that? With your date, with friends, as a family outing - this is a top experience! Be quick though because tickets always sell out quickly.

Tanja MolewijkEat what you see is brilliant...
Rutger and his team have developed this concept into a beautiful experience! The romantic idea is correct. Long tables, good atmosphere, good conversations and good food. It's amazing how good quality food it is to serve so many people at the same time. And let's face it, eat what you see is brilliant...

Myra, 2024Perfect concept for a night out.
Perfect concept for an evening out. The food is also excellent for vegetarians. Partly because of the friendly service, the small scale and beautiful location (Tolhuis Amsterdam), there is a pleasant atmosphere.

Movie with dinner
With Le pot-au-feu (2023, Trần Anh Hùn, the film is also known by its title The taste of things), it is simply impossible not to feel like eating. Every scene exudes the love and craftsmanship for French classic cuisine, and the film is romance and cooking course in one. We are in Dodin's imposing mansion where he and his cook Eugénie (Juliette Binoche) prepare the most delicious dishes for friends. In the traditional kitchen without electricity and gas, turbot, vol-au-vent, pigeons and veal backs are silently prepared, all filmed like living paintings that make you long for a sweltering French summer in the country.
