With Le pot-au-feu (2023, Trần Anh Hùn, the film is also known by its title The taste of things), it is simply impossible not to feel like eating. Every scene exudes the love and craftsmanship for French classic cuisine, and the film is romance and cooking course in one. We are in Dodin’s imposing mansion where he and his cook Eugénie (Juliette Binoche) prepare the most delicious dishes for friends. In the traditional kitchen without electricity and gas, turbot, vol-au-vent, pigeons and veal backs are silently prepared, all filmed like living paintings that make you long for a sweltering French summer in the country.
€89.95 per person for film and dinner.

Authentic French cuisine
This culinary drama film transports you to 19th-century France, where master chef Dodin and his partner/cook Eugénie (played by Juliette Binoche) have been cooking and living together for twenty years. Their cuisine revolves around patience, perfection and a deep love of taste and craft. Juliette Binoche, known for her role in Chocolat (2000), shines once again in a story where culinary passion takes center stage. The film follows their shared devotion and emotional journey as they create dishes that are a feast for the eyes and heart. Le Pot-au-Feu is a visually and emotionally rich ode to the art of cooking and love. The film is French spoken and Dutch subtitled.
Le Pot-au-Feu is truly an ode to French cuisine! This evening we serve a selection of authentic French dishes: traditional, flavorful and with a touch of nostalgia. So think French classic prepared with love and attention to detail – exactly as you see it in the movies. We were proud to serve this special experience earlier in the prestigious Tuschinski Theater at the Dutch premiere of the film. And now it is a joy to be able to share this wonderful film with everyone as a film & dinner event for an evening full of taste, film and magic. Our chef Anja is inspired by the rich French cuisine to create a unique culinary experience. So during the movie you will enjoy dishes that breathe passion and perfection. Bon appétit! The film has a sloppy 23 dishes, not all of which we are serving for health reasons. A selection of eight courses has been made.
What you see, is what you eat. At exactly the same time you taste what appears on the screen in the film. The culinary script of Le Pot-au-Feu at Cinema Culinair is the guiding principle for our chef and staff. Good film + good food + perfect timing-that’s what it’s all about. The essence? An example: when Master Chef Dodin serves his carefully prepared Fillet of Turbot at 1 hour, 25 minutes and 30 seconds, we want our guests to experience the same dish at that exact moment. A fraction too early or too late makes the difference between good and phenomenal. Thus, the film is not only seen or heard, but truly experienced.
1
Come on time and get a taste of the atmosphere. No cinema, no restaurant, but an urban or classic ballroom with high ceilings, movie screens and long tables. But first: buy a bottle of wine to accompany the film. Or something else delicious.
2
At the table, you’ll be told how it works. Seven carefully prepared dishes are served, perfectly timed with the film. There is a break halfway the movie. As soon as the movie starts, the first dishes appear in front of you, quickly and efficiently. Then it’s time to countdown…. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and taste. Together all at once.
3
You eat exactly the same as the actors in the movie. Right down to the second. So you experience the film with all your senses: see, hear, smell, taste and feel. It couldn’t be more intense. see, hear, smell, taste and feel. As if you were sitting at the table with the actors.
These are the dishes from the movies that you eat on the second flush with the movie.

Some movies you don’t just want to see, you want to taste! This is one of those movies. When you see the protagonists enjoying all the goodies in the film, you want to taste along. And so you can, with Cinema Culinary. Sometimes a dish is portrayed fairly briefly, but very often you see the preparation, the mouthful and the aftertaste. That really is the ultimate. We want you to experience this film like never before. So: smell, taste and feel what you see on the screen. As if you were there, on the film set. It couldn’t be more intense.

Miriam SchumackerVery nice and tasty experience
Very fun and delicious experience. At the same time with the main character himself live tasting what is eaten in the movie, who wouldn't want that? With your date, with friends, as a family outing - this is a top experience! Be quick though because tickets always sell out quickly.

Rutger and his team have developed this concept into a beautiful experience! The romantic idea is correct. Long tables, good atmosphere, good conversations and good food. It's amazing how good quality food it is to serve so many people at the same time. And let's face it, eat what you see is brilliant...

Myra, 2024Perfect concept for a night out.
Perfect concept for an evening out. The food is also excellent for vegetarians. Partly because of the friendly service, the small scale and beautiful location (Tolhuis Amsterdam), there is a pleasant atmosphere.
