Babette’s Feast (Gabriel Axel, 1987) is a Danish atmospheric film about hidden desires from the early 19th century. On the deserted coast of Denmark live Martina and Philippa, daughters of a strict Protestant minister who disapproves of all earthly pleasures. One day, the mysterious Babette, who has fled France, arrives. The two sisters offer her shelter in exchange for doing housework. After 14 years, Babette receives the message that she has won the lottery and she decides to make a huge French feast. It will be a dinner to remember! Oscar for best foreign film in 1988. The film is spoken in Danish and has Dutch subtitles.
The film takes you from the simple Danish cuisine to the exuberant French cuisine, with dishes such as Danish beer bread soup and blini Demidoff with caviar. The film also serves foie gras and turtle soup. These dishes can easily be replaced by animal-friendly alternatives.

Movie with dinner
With Le pot-au-feu (2023, Trần Anh Hùn, the film is also known by its title The taste of things), it is simply impossible not to feel like eating.
