Great timing

What you see, is what you eat. During *The Marathon*, you eat exactly what is being eaten in the film at that moment. The culinary script by Cinema Culinair determines the timing for our chef and service staff.

Good movie + good food + great timing. That last bit makes all the difference. For example: if, after a night out in Amsterdam that got a little out of hand, your friends are eating their shawarma at around 53 minutes and 21 seconds, you’ll be served the same dish. Not too early, not too late, but right on time. That way, you’ll experience *The Marathon* not only with your eyes and ears, but also with your taste buds.

How does it work?

Welcome and order your drinks

Arrive on time and soak up the atmosphere. Not a cinema, not a restaurant, but an urban or classic ballroom with high ceilings, film screens, and long tables. First: buy a bottle of wine to enjoy with the film. Or something else delicious.

Order your own drink at the bar and enjoy!

At the table, you’ll be told how it works. Seven carefully prepared dishes are served, perfectly timed with the film. There is a break halfway the movie. As soon as the movie starts, the first dishes appear in front of you, quickly and efficiently. Then it’s time to countdown…. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and taste. Together all at once.

Dining with the actors from the film

You eat exactly the same food as the actors in the movie. Down to the second. This allows you to experience the movie with all your senses. It doesn’t get any more immersive than this. See, hear, smell, taste, and feel. It’s as if you were sitting at the table with the actors.

A Dutch pastry that is both sweet and nostalgic, consisting of a soft cake filling covered with a layer of creamy buttercream. Topped with a thin layer of marzipan and dipped in dark chocolate at both ends, giving it a delicious, crunchy bite.<br>In the context of the film, the mergpijpje plays a symbolic role. It is not only a treat, but also represents Dutch conviviality and the camaraderie between the main characters. The way they interact with food, humor, and each other reflects their simple but warm lifestyle.
